Dance has been an important part of popular Indian Cinema since its origin. Be it being a part of its narrative or one of the biggest entertainment quotients, Hindi film dance has evolved from a cinematically simplistic, filmed documentation of a traditional performance to a recognized and increasingly respected formulated dance element. Despite there significance, dances in popular Hindi Cinema were not systematically analyzed, their movement, history, cultural influence and migration remained largely unexplored till 1980s, when a name emerged from oblivion, taking Bollywood dance to the heights it had acquired off late.
Saroj Khan, a name that can rightly be termed as a synonym to the modern Bollywood dance, has given this industry an element of today's superstardom- Ability to dance! Dance for her is not only an art, but a way to reach the Almighty. Having choreographed for more than 250 Bollywood flicks, Saroj rose to great fame when she choreographed some hit dance numbers for the queens of Bollywood like Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi during the late 80s and early 90s. Saroj Khan, the empress of choreography would now judge the abilities and spirit of our contestants (Dilwales) dancing their way to the ultimate goal of their love life- "A dream marriage"!
She is now here to teach them the dance of life, to test them purely on their dancing skills! To take their "Dance ki Agnipareeksha"!
